Today we are talking honeymoon destination… St. Barths! I (Anna) got married two months ago and my husband and I decided on St. Barths for our honeymoon escape. St. Barths was absolutely AMAZING and one of my favorite trips thus far! If you’ve never heard of St. Barths or don’t know much about it here’s a little bit about the island first…
“Saint Barthelemy, a French-speaking Caribbean island commonly known as St. Barts, is known for its white-sand beaches and designer shops. The capital, Gustavia, encircling a yacht-filled harbor, has high-end restaurants and historical attractions”
When we had decided on doing the Caribbean for our honeymoon, my husband googled “best hotel in the Caribbean” and we landed on Le Sereno Hotel and the decision was made. One year planning a wedding for me, and 10 minutes spent booking the honeymoon for the hubs… fair??? Probably not but he did good! Le Sereno was STUNNING… quiet, private, beautiful, and everything dreams are made of! The rooms at Le Sereno are bungalow style and there are only 36 suites and 4 large villas, very exclusive. It’s difficult to even put into words how much we loved it. At one point we even found ourselves adding up our savings accounts to calculate how long we could afford to stay there hahaha. We would wake up in the mornings, enjoy breakfast at the hotel restaurant or have breakfast delivered to our suite. Then we would lay by the pool and drink a couple of beers, read a book, and paddle board with the sea turtles! It was so cool! Then we would jump on our ATV and ride around the island exploring the beaches and shops!
The island is pretty small and the beaches are like little coves, so you have to drive to each beach. Our favorite beach was Colombier. This beach requires about a 20 minute hike along the side of a mountain but it was a beautiful hike! We found a shady spot on the beach to drop our things, read some books, and went swimming in the beautiful blue water.
We ate at a few restaurants, and they were all amazingly delicious, but our favorite one was Shellona. We went here for lunch and it was just beautiful, right on the beach with music playing, drinks flowing, and yachts in the background. Sadly, my pictures from Shellona seem to have disappeared (so sad) but the food was delicious and the atmosphere was super fun!
Also, one of my favorite parts about the island, and this may sound weird, were the cemeteries! There were several cemeteries scattered around the island and they were incredibly beautiful, all white with bright colorful flowers everywhere! Photo below for reference.
The island was gorgeous (have I mentioned that yet), the people are beautiful, the food is amazing, and the yachts are ridiculous. Hope you enjoy the photos from our trip!
